Sumber SUARABMI.NET - Atap baja ringan kini banyak dipilih sebagai material bangunan di rumah-rumah kekinian. Bukan tanpa alasan, baja ringan memang memiliki banyak keuntungan ketimbang material lainnya seperti kayu.

Pemasangannya lebih mudah, lebih awet, harganya pun lebih murah dibandingkan kayu. Sayangnya, di balik keuntungan-keuntungan tersebut, atap baja ringan juga menyimpan bahaya.

Baru-baru ini, media sosial digegerkan oleh video berdurasi 49 detik yang memperlihatkan orang-orang menggotong jenazah yang sudah meninggal dari atap rumah.

Diduga orang yang dibawa tersebut meninggal karena tersengat listrik yang mengalir pada rangka baja ringan konstruksi bangunan tersebut.

Bukan pertama kalinya, insiden yang mirip pernah menewaskan dua pria lainnya di tahun 2019. Penyebabnya pun sama, baja ringan yang terkena aliran listrik kemudian mengalir ke baja yang lain dan mengenai orang di sekitarnya.

Memang, sifat baja ringan adalah induktor, alias bahan yang bisa menghantarkan listrik dengan mudah. Tak heran, orang yang tersentuh rangka baja ringan bisa tersetrum. Apabila sengatan listrik tersebut sangat kuat, maka yang terjadi bisa sangat fatal.

Ketua Umum AKLI DKI Jakarta Puji Muhardi mengatakan, baja ringan berbahaya apabila baja ringan tersebut teraliri oleh listrik. Namun jika hanya sebatas baja ringan tanpa tersentuh aliran listrik, baja ringan tidak akan membahayakan.

Jika rumahmu kerangka atapnya terbuat dari baja ringan, posisikan instalasi listrik pada area yang tidak bersentuhan langsung dengan konstruksi baja ringan. Tempel langsung pada dinding, atau jika terpaksa ditaruh pada besi, bisa dibuat  posisinya dengan digantung.

Pilih pembungkus kabel dengan material terbaik yang membuatnya terhindar dari gigitan tikus. Sebab, kabel yang tergigit rentan menyetrum. Walaupun lebih mahal, kabel dengan bahan yang kuat tentu lebih aman.

Sebaiknya matikan dulu aliran listrik jika ingin melakukan perbaikan di bagian rumah dengan melepas sekering/MCB di rumah. Berhati-hati lah dan pastikan tidak ada kabel yang tersentuh baja saat pengerjaan.
